KARNAPURANAM : Ancient Ayurvedic style of taking care of Ears

Share

KARNAPURANAM IS TIME TESTED, ANCEINT RITUAL FOR RE-ESTABLISHING HARMONY IN THE EAR.

KARNAPURANAM IS PART OF AYURVEDIC LIFESTYLE

KARNA IN THE SANSKRIT MEANS EAR

PURANA MEANS TO FILL

This practise suggests the filling of the ear canal with warm oil to moisten and seal the canal so that foreign organisms cannot penetrate, and loosen earwax.

The use of sesame oil has an anti inflammatory and calming effect as pure sesame oil

reduces both vata and pitta.

Steps for Karnapuranam:

Apple cider vinegar for ear infection: Does it work?

1.After ensuring there is no tear in the eardrum, have someone pour warm, clean pure sesame oil into the outer ear canal.

2. Pouring is best done by soaking oil with guaze and gradually squeezing it near the opening of the ear canal so that the flow is smooth and droplets do not disturb the ear.

3. The technique involves pouring warm, clean, pure sesame oil into the outer ear canal, letting it absorb for 15-20min and then cleaning the ear by sitting the patient up and facing the other side so that oil drains directly out and not into the sinuses leading from the inner ear into oral cavity.

4. This oil must not be too warm, as it can burn, but it should not be cool as that is also irritating and certainly not comforting.

How to understand Karnapuranam:

Karnapuranam will pacify( calm or reduce ) vata and draw it out of the ear.

Once karnapurana is started, and the person is lying still, ear up towards the sky, oil filling the entire ear canal, a curious observer can watch the pool of oil.

If the person has an excess of vata, it manifests as movement out of the body.

Bubbles start to emerge from the oil and continue to emerge

Ayurveda refers to this excess vata in the head of the person as disharmonized air that is slowly drawn out by filling the micropores of the body with oil.

Latest Scientific studies of Neuroscience shows that pure oil penetrate the brain through the nerve channels knowns as inter-axon canals, not through the blood and carry nutrients into the brain using pathways not recognised by mainstream medical science yet.

Mood swings, Alzheimer’s tinnitus, hearing loss, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, etc. are of vata origin disease which will pacify by karnapurana

flight travel, bike travel, excess train travel , car travel also increases vata

As per Ayurveda, toxins build up in the ear, vata that disturbs and eventually destrys the nervous system in the ear and the importance of emotions and the metaphor of sound, in which people stop hearing because they do not want to hear what they cannot take in.
