Share

Lycine is an essential amino acid.  It is important in bone development and children by promoting calcium absorption.  It also helps promote muscle tissue development and consequently is good for those recovering from surgery and sports injuries.  It is known to help to promote the elimination of calls sores.

Because lycine cannot be produced in the body adequate amounts of lycine must be included in the diet.  Deficiencies can induce blood shot eyes, anemia, enzyme disorders, concentration problems, irritability, lack of energy, poor appetite, reproductive disorders, retarded growth, and weight loss.

Sources of lycine in food include: eggs, cheese, lima beans, fish, milk, red meat, potatos, soy products, and yeast.
